The 8th Pakaradyan Festival

   The Municipality of Malapatan in Sarangani Province will celebrate its 44th Foundation Anniversary and the 8th Pakaradyan Festival on June 17-21, 2013. With its theme: “Kad Sukor-sukor sa Nabpunan” (Bong kamdo de’ Tambel to’) – “Gratifying our Origins”. “The municipality of Malapatan will held various origin and culture of the aboriginal ancestors of Malapatan.”

   “Pakaradyan is a Maguindanaon term for festivity often held with a kanduli (thanksgiving) accompanied by a celebratory Pagana (feast) which may come as a Kagkawing (wedding celebration), Qadtamat (Qur’an reading), Tanda (baptismal rite), Salangguni (pamanhikan), Kadsalam (circumcision), Kapanggaygayan (gathering in respect of the death of a loved one), Eid’l Fitr (end of Ramadan), Eid’l Adha (Hadji pilgrimage festival), and the likes. Its equivalent to non-Maguindanaons would be any Filipino fiesta celebration, and elaborate meal attended by many guests, often held in honor of a particular occasion.”
