As I have expected

The area of SM GenSan

   It is a good sign that SM Mall invested in General Santos City. It implies that the economy of GenSan is improving and it offers job opportunities. As they have said, SM GenSan is the biggest in Mindanao. 

   Last October 3 (and 4) 2011, SM GenSan conducted a Job Fair (in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment/DOLE) at Lagao Gymnasium (GenSan Gym). So far, it was the biggest Job Fair I have visited. I never missed the chance to attend this event for employment.

   SM Management anticipated the number of applicants who participated in the Job Fair. Since the venue is in Lagao gym, many applicants try their luck to be part of SM family (as they called it). 

   When I was there, I felt discourage on what I have seen. It formed my pessimism towards employment in the Philippines. It seems like the event was staged for formality sake.  Rumors spread like a wild fire. Many applicants said that SM Management has already hired employees prior to the event – as I have expected.

   It was my turning point as a fresh graduate. I realized that I should create job(s) instead of finding it.
