GenSan Power Forum

   The Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA), Department of Energy (DOE), Mindanao Power Monitoring Committee (MPMC) along with the Local Government of GenSan and South Cotabato Electric Cooperative II (SOCOTECO II) conducted a Power Forum last March 27, 2013. 

   The Power Forum is conducted to find solutions to the power crisis in Mindanao. It discusses the short and long term solutions of the power crisis. The forum is participated by the different sectors in GenSan. 

   Sec. Luwalhati Antonino of MinDA said that she is confident that this crisis will go on. “If we gather and unite to find solutions, no matter how much it cost us, we will surpass this crisis,” she added. 

   Rodolfo Ocat, the General Manager of SOCOTECO II also presents the General Santos City Power Situation. He encourages the consumers to conserve energy while the cooperative finds long term solutions like signing a contact with private companies. 

   Sec. Carlos Jericho Petilla of DOE also discusses the Mindanao Power Situation. He discusses about the supply and demand of electricity in Mindanao. He also presents possible solutions like rehabilitation of Agus-Pulangi Hydro power plants, building new power plants, signing of contract with private electric companies and buy generator set. He said, “the solutions are not easy but their are solutions.”
