Cotabato City joins worldwide photowalk

The City of Cotabato along with thousands of other cities around the world will host a photowalk on October 7 in celebration of the 10th anniversary of Scott Kelby Worldwide Photowalk.

The annual event which was founded by Scott Kelby in 2007 aims to gather photographers from all over the world to converge, shoot photos, and share their knowledge about photography.

Hajar Kabalu, the city’s walk leader said that it is a momentous occasion for the city because this is the first time it will join the international event.

“I am very happy that our application to hold a photowalk in our city was approved. This event is a rare opportunity to bond with fellow photography enthusiasts in the city and to practice our photography skills,” said Kabalu. “The event is more than a social activity. It is a platform to promote the city in the international arena,” he added.

At least 30 participants already registered in the photowalk. Kabalu said it is a diverse group which is composed of students and professionals.

The photowalk is also a competition. The best photo from the local walk will get to represent the city in the main competition.

“As the walk leader, I am privileged to personally choose the best photo from our team. It should embody the uniqueness of Cotabato City. Moreover, it must be well composed with proper lighting. It will represent the city thus it should be the best,” Kabalu emphasized.

The winner of the competition will get the chance to win a brand new camera, a year membership to KelbyOne, an online resource for creative education, and gift certificates among others.

The Scott Kelby Worldwide Photowalk was dubbed the “world’s largest global and social photography event.” In 2016, more than 25,000 photographers participated in the activity.
