Sarangani Youth Celebrate International Youth Day
The new elected Sarangani Junior Officials (SJOs) and some youth leaders commemorate the International Youth Day (IYD) last August 12, 2018, at Kasfala Hall, Provincial Capitol Ground, Alabel Sarangani Province.
This year's theme talks about "Safe spaces for the Youth." It is important to have "safe spaces" in order for them to converge, engage in activities related to their diverse needs and interests, participate in decision making processes and freely express themselves.
During the event, John Oliver Tablazon, the Provincial Youth Coordinator of Sarangani, asked the SJOs on how can they can help create safe spaces for their fellow youth.
August 12 was first designated International Youth Day by the UN General Assembly in 1999. It serves as an annual celebration of the role of young women and men as essential partners in change, and an opportunity to raise awareness of challenges and problems facing the world’s youth.
