The 20th National Tuna Congress (Program 2018)

The SOCSKSARGEN Federation of Fishing and Allied Industry, Inc. (SFFAII), once again, will host the 20th National Tuna Congress, with the theme “20 Years and Beyond: Continuing the Remarkable Convergence”, on September 5-7, 2018, at SM City General Santos Trade Halls.

The event is expected to convene eight hundred (800) participants coming from the different sectors of the fishing industry in the Philippines and abroad. Important stakeholders from government agencies are also expected.

This year’s Tuna Congress will discuss issues and concerns pertaining to certification and monitoring and the importance of sustainable fishing. The congress will also launch the National Tuna Management Plan of 2018 and give updates on the Electronic Catch Documentation and Traceability System (eCDTS).

Furthermore, the tuna congress will be launching the SFFAII Coffee Table Book entitled Tuna: At the Heart of General Santos. This 101-page book is SFFAII’s attempt of capturing the life of the Mananagat (fishermen), the history, dynamism, growth, and diversity of the Tuna Industry through pictures and articles.
