Sarangani targets to plant 1 million trees

ALABEL, Sarangani (August 8, 2022) – The Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (LGU-PENRO) has distributed tree saplings to Capitol employees to promote Governor Rogelio “Ruel” D. Pacquiao’s “Sarangani 1 Million Trees Project”.

The PENRO, host of the flag-raising ceremony on Monday, August 8, gifted the tree saplings to employees who will celebrate their birthdays this week.

Several fruit-bearing trees and forest trees like durian, rambutan, lanzones, and iron bamboo, were given to the celebrants.

The Sarangani 1 Million Trees Project is in support of the Reforestation Development Program (RDP) of the province. RDP aims to plant 1 million trees all over Sarangani during the tenure of Governor Pacquiao.

PENRO officer Rolando Tuballes emphasized the importance of the trees in the lives of the people highlighting how “we need trees more than we know it.”

Provincial Administrator Atty. Ryan Jay R. Ramos encouraged the participation of the Sarangans “in pursuit of the environmental development and protection advocacy of the province, especially in our watershed areas.”

Every Friday, the PENRO has been conducting simultaneous tree-planting activities in the different barangays of Sarangani, with the aim of preserving the wildlife, restoring several habitats, and saving lives.
