Korean agency to support Sarangani in delivering better, latest medical services

 

ALABEL, Sarangani (August 11, 2022) - The government of South Korea, through the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), visited Sarangani on August 11.

KOICA representatives introduced new medical and environmental technologies that would benefit the people of Sarangani through improving hospitals, medical services, and equipment.

Provincial Administrator Atty. Ryan Jay Ramos expressed the interest of the province in the said proposal.

Ramos said that one of the goals of Governor Rogelio "Ruel" D. Pacquiao’s administration is to make the province a medical tourism destination "that is why timely ang pagdating nitong mga equipment to realize this vision soon."

The three technologies presented were CERVIRAY AI, Medical Oxygen Supply System (MOSS), and Waste Plastic to Oil Technology.

The "Waste Plastic to Oil Technology" is a processing technology that converts waste plastic to useable industrial oil via pyrolysis.

Using this, solid byproducts may be used as strengthened extenders for concrete bricks.

The "CERVIRAY AI" is a scanner-based cervical screening test designed as a simpler, minimally invasive, faster, and more affordable diagnostic method appropriate for both urban and rural communities.

The "Medical Oxygen Supply System" (MOSS) Generator is a compact system for supplying medical grade oxygen with 93% to 96% generated from ambient air in real time.

It replaces the big oxygen generating and refilling plants currently in common use, reducing the risk of tank explosions and minimizing manpower.

With these emerging technologies, Atty. Ramos said this would be a good partnership opportunity between the province and the KOICA in achieving a better Sarangani.

The project would be done through a Private-Public-Partnership, said John Park, Global Business Team head.

"Sarangani will soon see hospitals producing their own medical grade oxygen within the premises of the hospital because of the Medical Oxygen Supply System," said Park. "We may also see in the near future barangay health centers conducting cervical cancer diagnostic tests."
