As it celebrates its sixth anniversary, Barra Barista Café in Dipolog City is once again brewing excitement with a full slate of activities in November. More than just a gesture of gratitude to its loyal patrons and supporters, the celebration aims to spotlight Dipolog City as a rising destination on the Philippine coffee map.

Founder Vincent Regidor shares that this year’s lineup is thoughtfully curated to nurture the city’s emerging coffee community. Highlights include immersive farm tours, hands-on training sessions, and a community forum designed to foster a deeper appreciation for coffee culture.

Yadu Karu: Looking back over six years, what are the most memorable milestones or challenges that shaped Barra Barista Café into what it is today?

Vincent Regidor: As we celebrate six wonderful years of Barra Barista, our hearts are full of gratitude for the amazing community here in Dipolog City that has supported us every step of the way. From the very beginning, our dream was simple: to create a grab-and-go coffee spot for the people of Dipolog. But it evolved into a cozy corner in the city where people could slow down, share a great cup of coffee, and feel that comforting “home” vibe.

I still remember the excitement and anxiety of our opening day—the buzz of curiosity and the friendly faces who walked through our doors to give us a chance. Many of those first customers have become dear friends. Over the years, we’ve been lucky to witness countless stories unfold here: laughter between friends, quiet moments of reflection, and even a few first dates.

Like many local businesses, we’ve faced our share of challenges, especially during the pandemic. We had to adapt quickly—introducing takeaway options, online orders, and reimagining how we could serve our community safely. Each obstacle ultimately strengthened our team and reinforced our commitment to quality and consistency.

But through it all, the Dipolog community stood by us. From heartfelt messages of support to familiar faces showing up for takeaway coffee, they reminded us that Barra Barista is more than just a coffee shop. They made it part of what makes Dipolog feel like home.

Today, as I look back on six years, I see not just how far we’ve come, but how much we owe to the people who believed in us—our loyal customers, local partners, and our hardworking team, whom we now consider family.

VR: For our 6th anniversary, we wanted the celebration to truly reflect what Barra Barista has always stood for: community, connection, and gratitude. This year’s theme is inspired by the people who’ve made these six years so meaningful—our loyal customers, our dedicated team, and the Dipolog community that has supported us from the very beginning.

We’re giving back by sharing knowledge through the help of expert and passionate guest speakers. November isn’t just a celebration of how far we’ve come—it’s a heartfelt thank-you to everyone who’s been part of our journey.

That’s why our month-long anniversary events are all about bringing people together. From special promos and local collaborations to live music and coffee-inspired experiences, every activity is designed to share joy, showcase local talent, highlight Dipolog’s potential, and celebrate the sense of togetherness that defines our city.

Our inspiration came from the countless moments we’ve shared with our customers over the years. This anniversary is for them—a celebration brewed with heart, community, and the spirit of Dipolog City.

VR: We’re incredibly excited about what’s in store this November as we celebrate six amazing years with our Dipolog community. This month is all about connection, appreciation, and celebration.

Throughout November, our loyal customers can enjoy special anniversary drink releases, exclusive discounts, and giveaways as a token of our gratitude.

We’re especially thrilled to host community-centered events, including coffee farm tours with PCQC award winners, and classes led by experts like Ma’am Mimi Sabado, Sir Arnel Cadeliña, and Ariel Lastica, to name a few. We’ll also have live acoustic nights featuring local artists, a latte art throwdown for baristas and enthusiasts, and a customer appreciation weekend filled with fun surprises, free samples, and interactive coffee experiences.

More than anything, we want this anniversary to feel like a big “thank you”—a celebration not just of Barra Barista, but of the people who’ve made it what it is today. Over the past six years, we’ve grown alongside an incredible network of local baristas, roasters, and coffee lovers who share our passion for quality and creativity. Their support, ideas, and energy have constantly inspired us to evolve and stay true to what makes Dipolog’s coffee culture so special.

This November, we’re shining a spotlight on that very community. We’ve partnered with local roasters to feature specialty beans from Mindanao and are collaborating with Dipolog-based artisans.

In the coming months, we plan to expand our menu with inventive coffee creations and locally inspired flavors, launch workshops and tasting sessions for coffee enthusiasts, and deepen our collaborations with local artisans, roasters, and musicians. We’re also exploring ways to enhance our space, making it even more inviting for gatherings, study sessions, and community events.

Beyond products and events, our goal is to strengthen our connection with the Dipolog community—supporting local initiatives, celebrating homegrown talent, and slowly introducing locally grown coffee beans from Dipolog and Zamboanga del Norte through our farm tours.
